Aquired Immuno Deficiency Syndrome or AIDS as it is commonly known is an incurable disease. A number of people have been affected by the global disease. According to UNAIDS Global report 2010 approximately 33.3 million people worldwide are living with AIDS. This disease has cause such heartache, as well as description in everyone's life. AIDS does not affect just the poor but the rich as well. It does not only affect the individual with the disease but the entire communtiy, which means it should be a concern to all. Everyone has to work togethr to eradicate or bring AIDS down to zero infections.
How can this happen? Each one teach one. Community members, the AIDS department, government agencies and private businesses can continue to make awareness through various media to educate the un-educated about the disease. We can participate in walk-a-thons to raise money to find a cure. We can put up billboards or posters and have telethons about AIDS. Children can make up jingles, write articles for newspapers and participate in debates about issues relating to AIDS. Organizations like Rap Port and Roteract which attract the young crowd is a great outlet towards positive awareness of this disease.
Despite the fact that there still isn't a medical cure for AIDS. We can still work together as a community to get AIDS down to zero infections. When we are aware of how AIDS is transmitted and the effects it has on the effort to get rid of all the stigma and myths associated with it so that people will find it easier to know their status and be better able to help in the fight against AIDS. Let us make this orld a safer place to live in. Educate, eradicate, dont discriminate and allow others to see and feel loved by their family and friends. God has not given us a spirit of fear but of love and a sound mind.
